Hicksville NY Yellow Pages

Hicksville is a hamlet in Oyster Bay in Nassau County. The area was settled by Robert Williams in 1648 when he purchased a large area of land in the eastern Hempstead Plains. The area was still not settled even after the purchase of the land until 1834, when the Hicks family purchased land. The hamlet was named after Valentine Hicks that purchased land in 1834 and built a station stop on the Long Island Railroad and became eventually became president of the Long Island Railroad.

The Hicksville Public School system include elementary schools such as Burns Avenue School, Dutch Lane School, East Street School, Fork Lane School, Lee Avenue School, Old Country Road School, and Woodland Avenue School, along with 1 middle school and 1 high school. Hicksville is home to a wide variety of retail shops and upscale Hicksville restaurants as well as many attractions.

The most popular attractions in the area are a few museums and the Cantiague Park which offers a game area, horseshoe pits, picnic area, golf course, shuffleboard, and boccie court.
